It seems definite that Jake will be in The Host. Several sites suggest that Jake has closed the deal. Max Irons (who you may know from Red Riding Hood) will be playing the other lead role of Jared Howe. (We’re trying to get confirmation from Jake directly.)

Jake is reportedly a front-runner for one of two male lead roles, Ian, in the movie adaptation of The Host, written by Stephenie Meyer who is best known for writing the Twilight series. (Fun fact: Jake also auditioned for the role of Edward.) Saoirse Ronan, who Jake worked with in The Lovely Bones, has already been cast as the female lead, Melanie Snyder. The movie will be directed by Andrew Niccol, who also wrote the script and most recently directed In Time, starring Justin Timberlake. Actors up for the other male lead role are, depending on how the casting goes, Max Irons, Kit Harington and Liam Hemsworth. Niccol wants to start shooting the movie as early as February, with a tentative release date set for 29 March 2013.
