Based on the best-selling novel by Twilight author Stephenie Meyer, The Host is a riveting story about the survival of love and the human spirit in a time of war. Our world has been invaded by a unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact. Most of humanity has succumbed.

Anthony Head, who you may know as Giles from Buffy the Vampire Slayer or more recently, as Uther Pendragon from Merlin, has been cast as Chiron, Camp Half-Blood’s fearless leader! What do you think of the most recent addition? I’m quite thrilled, Anthony Head is a great actor! The cast is really shaping up nicely now.

The amazing Nathan Fillion has been cast in the new Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monster, as Hermes. Who is none other than Luke Castellan’s father, played by our very own Jake Abel. Most people might know him from Castle or Desperate Housewives. Looking a little closer, I can actually almost see a resemblance between Fillion and Abel. Having him on to play a Greek God is definitely going to be a treat. I can’t wait to see how it comes out.

There are now actual filming dates being reported. They will be filming up in Vancouver, Canada from April 16 to July 12. So be on the look out for the cast up there! If there are any sighting or fan encounters, let us know! We’d love to hear about that stuff!

While Jake is shooting The Host, casting for Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters is still happening. In addition to Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario, Brandon T. Jackson and Jake reprising their roles as Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, Grover Underwood and Luke Castellan respectively, three actresses have been added to the cast. Mary Birdsong (The Descendants), Missi Pyle (The Artist) and Community star Yvette Nicole Brown will play the three Fates, sisters from classic mythology who share one eye. In this modern version, they will be portrayed as taxi-driving siblings, and they’ll help Jackson along on his latest quest.

Percy Jackson is shooting for March 27th, 2013 release date. Plenty of time to pick up your Percy Jackson books again and re- read the story! If you’ve not yet read the books… what are you waiting for?

Sorry I’m a little late on this, but it has now been confirmed for awhile that Jake will be in the film version of Stephanie Meyer’s The Host. According to Stephanie Meyer, who was fully involved in the process of casting,  there was incredible chemistry between the trio of leads.  She said the chemistry between Saoirse/Jake and Saoirse/Max could have been cut with a knife. This make me all sorts of excited! I can not wait to see them on screen.

It’s been recently reported the Jake will start filming in February. The filming is set between Louisiana and New Mexico. They will start in Baton Rouge and New Orleans between February 13, 2012 to April 20, 2012 before later moving to New Mexico.

And for all you lucky folks that live in the area, I believe they are still looking for extras.

  • THE HOST Chockstone Pictures’ feature film The Host starring Saoirse Ronan will shoot February 13, 2012 to April 20, 2012 in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Please direct resumes to host.resumes@gmail.com  or fax resumes to 225.952.9030.

Good luck to anyone who tries! Let us know if any of you become apart of it!

It seems definite that Jake will be in The Host. Several sites suggest that Jake has closed the deal. Max Irons (who you may know from Red Riding Hood) will be playing the other lead role of Jared Howe. (We’re trying to get confirmation from Jake directly.)
